Defining Documents in American History: The 1910s Review

“Editor Michael Shally-Jensen and 29 scholars produced this volume in Salem Press’ Defining Documents in American History series. It contains 38 documents divided into six categories: Domestic Developments; The War Front; International Affairs; Labor and Immigration; Women’s Rights; and African American Affairs. Among the documents are the “Progressive Party Platform,” which was drafted for Teddy Roosevelt’s 1912 presidential campaign, “Emiliano Zapata: Plan of Ayala,” and “NAACP: Thirty Years of Lynching in the United States.” The supplementary materials accompanying the respective documents are organized according to the template utilized by the entire series. One benefit of this work is that access to an online edition is provided with the purchase of a print copy. Public and academic libraries serving high school and undergraduate clientele would find this to be a useful reference tool.”
