Activating your free Salem Health and Salem History databases is quick and easy. Just follow the instructions below.

THE REFERENCE CONTENT
Salem Health and Salem History are online platforms that make a wide variety of Salem Press reference content available to patrons and students through participating institutions. Access to the content found in printed reference sets is available online free to purchasers of those printed sets. Schools and libraries may include some or all of the qualifying titles in their database.

Previously published reference sets in series covered by Salem History may be included in that database free, provided an institution owns the printed set. There are some restrictions on the fair use of Salem's content online. Those restrictions are described below. If you have any questions, please give Salem a call at (800) 221-1592.

ACTIVATING TITLES
Libraries and schools gain access to Salem Health and Salem History by purchasing any new title in the qualifying series of the database. Titles published (or soon to be published) which activate Salem databases are:

THE ACTIVATION PROCESS
All of the reference sets listed above include an "Activation Number" bound into the inside back cover of Volume 1 of the printed set. This number is used to activate your Salem Health or Salem History online account. The number is unique to each printed set and can only be used by one school, college or library.

Once you have your Activation Number in hand, librarians and administrators should go to the appropriate database listed below:

For the Health database: www.Health.SalemPress.com

For the History database: www.History.SalemPress.com

NEW (FIRST-TIME) ACTIVATIONS
New activations (libraries and schools signing up for the first time) will discover a page like the one below:

1 Clicking the "New Library Activation" tab will take a new, activating librarian to the next, appropriate page.
1 The red "Salem Health Activation" button will also move an activating librarian to the next page.
1 Any user can access Salem Health or Salem History remotely (from outside the library or school) with a password or library card number.
1 Libraries and schools wishing a free trial should call Salem Press: (800) 221-1592.
1 If your activation process is interrupted midstream or you wish to administer your database from outside the library, click here.

Clicking on the "Salem Health Activation" button (or "New Library Activation" tab) on the screen above will prompt the administrator to input the Activation Number and provide some information about your library. The process should require no more than 15 minutes. Help is always available by calling (800) 221-1592.

ALREADY-ACTIVATED SCHOOLS & LIBRARIES
Librarians who have already activated their database and have a subsequent printed set to add to either Salem Health or Salem History must go to their "Administrative Profile" online. There, they will discover a page like the one below:

1 Under the "Profile" tab at the top of both Salem Health and Salem History is the "Profile" area. The lower set of tabs here includes an "Account Information" tab. In the "Account Information" area, click the "Institutional Administration" buttong.
1 By clicking "Account Information" in the Profile area, and then "Institutional Administration" you will find a number of administrative functions. Included is a button for "Additional Activations."
1 Clicking the "Additional Activations" button opens an area where you may input additional activation numbers. Input the new Activation Number from your new printed set here and click "Submit." Your additional content will be immediately available.

Inputting new and additional Activation Numbers on this page will make the contents of additional sets active in your online database.
